Weekly Round Up - Sunday 11 July 2010

By Vindicator

This week the AEF's teams brought home a mixed bag of results. Here's the details...

In Battlefield Bad Company 2, ‘Devils Brigade’ continued their unopposed march up the ‘GameSpace 8v8’ ladder, securing 98th then 92nd, then 81st place. “We have currently played only one challenge out of our six so far and that was a team challenging us.” Devils Brigade CO, KABLE reported “The others have all been our challenges that have been declined.” This revelation is not surprising if the opponents’ names are anything to go by; “Just Want A Beta Key” and “After Grog Bog” being choice selections from the ‘forfeit buffet’. The Devils Brigade are far from content with winning by default however, and with the team now in 76th position following the failure of “sons of God” to find divine assistance, the Devils Brigade look toward the non-AEF variant of the “Black Watch” (currently in 73nd) to offer some form of resistance. Will this group live up to the name or will they withdraw before the Mighty Devils Brigade also?

In the “CyberGamer Squad Rush” ladder, 10th Elite, comprising evil_badger, Cake and ColKlink under the command of simon77 achieved a hat-trick when they crushed “Junglewraith Bravo Squad” in a one-sided affair 4:0 to, ironically, take 40th position on the ladder. Simon77 noted in a post match interview “Mentions go out to Badger and Cake. We all played very well and gave them such a flogging [Junglewraith Bravo Squad] actually quit the ladder faster than I could even enter the score!” The guys now turn their crosshairs to their next target as they aim to continue their run of domination.

BRARREN, the CO of the 1st Shock, was short and sweet with his report to CW on his teams latest actions “lost to fray 80-0 in the CGo”. He no doubt he was in a hurry to introduce his compatriots to some from of corrective training to prepare them for their next match. The '1st' have been recreating themselves over the last few months since their move out of Battlefield 2 and into Battlefield: Bad Company 2, with a clear and decisive move towards representing themselves as a top echelon team. BRARREN has set the standard that his team members are expected to commit and perform or face replacement. This loss to a long term nemesis of the AEF will only serve to spur the team to new lengths as they take the lessons learnt and apply them in their strive to repeat the success achieved in BF2. But with a match history of four losses, one of which a forfiet, the 17th placed team has some work to do to live up to their new targets.

161 Squadron’s CO, Crow, played down the efforts of his intrepid pilots as they continued to hone their already impressive skills in the platforms of DCS, saying “Would love to contribute but not much to say vs AI in DCS”. Despite his reserved sentiment, recent intercepted transmissions from the battered and bruised “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” indicated that the squadron’s efforts are continuing to have an effect on their seemingly redoubtable resolve. But as long as this menace exists, 161 Squadron will continue their sorties.

AI has also been under fire in Armed Assault 2 as 2CAV and Combat Team Bravo maintained their pressure on AI in the ground war. This week saw both teams working with various other external groups in coalition actions against AI. An un-named 2CAV soldier is reported to have said “We shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then - ” dramatically, he failed to finish his sentence as a snipers bullet ended his oratory. His commanders have vowed to avenge his sacrifice.

In EVE Online, Vanguard (AEF.V) as part of the TNT Alliance have been busy supporting the war effort as calls for more raw materials have sounded out from the alliance. The capsulers responded with their normal dedication despite the constant threat from rival groups and pirates alike. Vanguard currently fill a vital role in the training of personnel to operate in the lawless void of 0.0 sec space with their most experienced members helping to secure and supply the alliance in a coordinated round the clock effort. Recent fleet engagements have been close calls, and without the continual flow of resources the shipyards will stop producing and the enemy will overrun the AEF’s allies. If you can help to stem the tide or supply the war effort, contact the AEF:V’s CO, Travo.
