When i had my trial version of arma 2 it ran like a dog. Same with the demo. 1280x1024 with everything on low or switched off. 1600 view distance(Was not happy Jan - was looking for FPS helpers all over the place.)
Finally got full version Arma2 and what a change....... 1600x1200 with everything on normal except AA and Postprocessing effects which are turned off. 2500 view distance.
Very impressed and it looks bloody awesome - a little bit to good as the enemy really does blend in with the surrounding vegitation and richness of the new version. Cant wait for us to get in there together and start playing this game how it is meant to be played - TEAM WORK. This new version is really going to test our skills as a unit and that is what it is all about. Suppresive fire, covering all flanks and tactics.
Salute

Game runs fine on windows 7 Getting about 25-30 frames doing bootcamp on medium settings at 1920x1200 res. Been trying a few tweaks like trilinear filtering and how many frames the cpu caches. Must say the benchmarking mission i installed for arma2 keeps giving me varying results even just running it a few times in a row without changing anything. its going to be a pain in the ass if i have to reboot my machine and start a fresh arma each time i make a change to see if i get more frames.
Looking at upgrading pc in a few months when get back from my holiday, going to set up a watercooled rig use some Solid state drives and overclock the hell out of it, should be able to get 4ghz out of a i7 920

You can get 4ghz out of an i7 with a decent aircooler, try for something like 4.2 if you're going water cooled.

there is no point in OC ing the CPU for games on the i7 you will not get any more frames, ive been there. not even 2 more fps. the real FPS is in the GPU, there is no point OC ing the CPU unless you do video editing or something using serious cpu grunt
while something could be said about improved RAM bandwidth. the real bottleneck is the GPU itself. and even possibly the PCIE Bus and i dont know anyone who has ever Overclocked the PCIE bus by anything more than 2 mhz

Dont have a exact figure on frame rate.. suspecting around 25-30 fps. Tried toying around with alot of settings and tweak commands.
Ended up just running the game at
1920x1080 for interface/3D
post processing off shadows disabled AA/AF disabled all other settings on normal

Hey, anyone using an overclocked 920 on an Asus P6T, about 1600mhz 6GB RAM?
What FPS are you getting on what settings? I upgraded to these specs, though was hoping for a better improvement in frames.
Cheers

Windows 7, 64 bit Asus P5KPL/1600 M/B Intel Core2 E8400 (now O/C'd to 3.6Ghz with stock cooler at 1.245 Vcore) 4GB DDR2-1066 Kingston HyperX memory running at 960mhz Radeon 5770 1GB (not yet OC'd) WD 500GB SATA drive 23" LCD running at 1920x1080 native
Performance fine in Armoury and Bootcamp, struggles a bit still in towns. Last mod to this PC will be an aftermarket cooler and an overclock to 4Ghz.
View distance is set to about 2,500 metres, which seems to be a sweet spot for this rig.

havent tried benchmark 1 yet, but normal gameplay is pretty smooth, i never notice any stuttering really so i would say averaging over 30fps.

Yeah, I've tried HT off. I've overclocked to 4Ghz so I'd thought I'd get better frames at higher settings. Maybe my GTX275 is bottlenecking. Already got my eyes on my next GPU!

Hey guys im new to the team only signing up to the 2CAV a few days ago and yet to have my interview, but i thought that i would check out what rigs people are running this game on. Until tommorow i would usually be using my desktop computer which i custom built a couple of years ago with:
But ive i should be receiving my Laptop tomorrow (im doing classes and learning code and 3D animating and modeling) And will probably be using that instead which has:
Intel i7 820qm 8GB 1333Mhz Ram Radeon HD 4670m 15.6" screen 1080p (i know small taskbar hey ) 500GB sata HD
Looking forward to seeing you guys on the battlefled once i set it up.
