CAPTURING MAYKOP
A Dynamic Red v Blue Multiplayer Mission

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

BRIEFING & GOAL:
(Extracted from "Grimes of 3sqn" release notes & briefs)

Capturing Maykop is a dynamic team vs team objective based mission. The goal of the mission is to secure and hold Maykop Airbase. The mission has nearly 1000 triggers that govern all aspects of the mission.

To capture the airbase is a relatively simple task, it is by no means easy. A team must enter a 35 km radius around the base and prevent all enemies from entering this area. Once you control the airspace a convoy will move in an make Maykop available as a FARP for your team. Transports with additional reinforcements will airdrop air defenses to the base. These defenses start off small and gradually become more advanced.

It functions like a King of the Hill scenario commonly found in other games. The first team to enter the airspace starts to capture it. The more friendlies in the airspace the faster it captures. It takes anywhere from 1 to 15 minutes to capture the airspace. If you leave the airspace after you start capturing it, the capture percentage will decrease until it reaches 0%. You may re-enter it at any point as long as your team is capturing it and its above 0%. It moves up or down in 5% increments.

The enemy team can block the progress by entering the airspace. If the enemy enter a empty airspace that is decreasing, the rate of decrease will double. Once it is drained to 0% it will take about 30 seconds before either team can start capturing again.

Once a team captures the airspace the focus is on protecting ground assets near Maykop. If all ground forces are destroyed in the vicinity of the base, the mission "resets" to a previous state where both teams are trying to re-secure the airspace.

To be considered "In the airspace" for base capture you must be...
Within 35km of Maykop
At an altitude of 1000m Above Sea Level
Flying a fighter aircraft.
(Ka-50, Su-25A/T, A-10 have no effect on airbase capture. They will be much needed to take care of the mudmoving.)

NOTE:
We will be using AEF's DCS ventrilo VOIP.. not 3sqns shown in above pics, so make sure to jump on and acquaint yourselves with everyone and their selected aircraft and tasks.....we're a friendly bunch and the night is by no means as hardcore as it might sound. Smile

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

SO there yah have it.....Hope all the "JetJocks" in AEF and Guests with FC2 turn up, (advanced pilots OR novice)
Because they will be extremely needed (dogfighting/base capturing) in co-op with the slower "mudmovers" for this new dynamic MP mission system to be a success.

PS:...Incase of not having numbers, other NEW & interesting missions will still be run/tested aswell as time to brush up with training etc.
Also....Keep a tentative eye out for sundays testing/training at aprx. same time slot as things pick up.

On behalf of 161 and AEF....Many thanks goes to "GRIMES" of 3sqn for this awsome piece of work. Cool

.

Yer...5am "sparrowfart start" is a nice touch immersion wise... indeed. Cool

Here's a good read over at 3sqn showing some of Grimes' development changes from version RC1 to latest version RC3 including more additional info. & pics.
to give more insite on how this groovy mission works.

Also...We might keep this going for a few tuesday night sessions for those that can't make it, to build momentum (so to speak) because it definitely needs numbers
to work properly (ie. more the better).
This certainly seems the goods to satisfy and keep the FC2/DCS co-op activity going whilst there seems to be a lull waiting for the release of DCS: A-10...and maybe BEYOND! Very Happy

Just a "headsup"....

We had a promising amount of pilots turn up for the first night of this new mission (thanx guys).
But with varying amount of connection issues etc., it wasn't to be. Sad

All was not lost though....as the time was well worth spent with guys configuring & testing their router/modems to assist in future server hosting when needed. Cool

So we will continue to put up the "Capturing Maykop" mission on Tuesday Nights and see if we can get this thing a happenin.....

Thanks again to all that turned up....Be sure to keep returning because I'm sure it will be a HOOT as the ball gets rolling.
Incase we don't have enough numbers etc. for "Capturing Maykop".....We will certainly be trying out all types of NEW DCS+FC2 missions instead.

Cheers....Skid

PS: As I might've mentioned somewhere before...this is NOT as hardcore as it might sound, type of night...
There's pretty much always plenty of pilots available to help assist/train in all or most aspects of these sims from novice to advanced if needed.
It's always the best way to learn or brush up on your skills. Wink

I'm in! Any chance I can get some basic 1 on 1 weapons training before hand? I'm a bit rusty...
