GDay guys, hope you don't mind me posting on here but I wanted to let you know so as to get as much coverage as possible ....
Upon the release of Operation Arrowhead, many of us have been dissappointed with the lack of good quality play.
This Friday, there will be a sever called "AusArmA Community" (the VMA's sever but not for Thursday night!). On it will be a bunch of PvP missions, the likes have never been seen before (except for in exotic European Severs!). They are designed for many a player and focus upon the fun, rather than the slow tactics! Don't think to yourself, "I've played PvP, but think its too fast" because this isn't AAS, for example, one mission is like a checkerboard, with a whole bunch of squares for zones, you cap a zone by being in it, you don't have to cap em in any particular order, so chaos can assume! You can take it whatever way you like, be that sniper behind enemy lines picking of players, laughing to yourselves, or team up with 4 others and work as a overpowering steam train of a fireteam.
So that's Friday Night, look for the "AusArmA Community" sever. Bring along your mates (or astranged clan members), Accents are a must for the opfor!
SERVER NAME is AusArmA Community, No password required, TS not mandatory due to OA's excellent VOIN Sever tested and its good!
And abrief about the missions (there are more, but this is the general way these missions work!)
1) A zone control in Zargabad. 25 zones are set up in a grid, like a checkersboard, with ABCDE on the top, 12345 on the side. Zones can be capped in any order. The team with the most zones at the end wins. It takes two men to a zone to cap it, they must be present for 2 mins. Vehicles are, 2 choppers (either 2 hueys or 1 LB and 1 CH-47) for transport into the zones, a small selection of humvees (or UAZs). BTW, you can steel the other teams vehicles if you manage to kill them, not only will you now have the firepower, but they can't get another one until you get out and it respawns. Very short respawn time on unoccupied/destroyed vehicles (probably 10 sec). Minimal variety of weapons to choose, the gun you start with is probably the best you'll get! Great close quarters stuff, fully utilising the enterable buildings
2-3) Like I said, nothing like you've ever played before. Large area. There will be two zones called Main Sector Objectice 1/2. Takes two men two mins to cap (less if you have more). These zones will accumalte you points over time. There are also two places called (and one of these for OPFOR and BLUFOR each) Comms relay and Radar tower. Comms Relay earns you no points if you have yours or the enemys or not (same for radar tower). Comms simply allows you to be able to see your teamates on the map and any markers they may make, if you don't have yours, you won't see anything, if the enemy doesn't have theirs ... Radar tower allows a team to see enemy air assets and where they are going, you can watch the map to see where they drop off their reinforcemens and so can act accordingly. Comms and Radar do not give you any points of any sort ever. Vehicles, Assorted selection of Humvees (or landrovers), 2x choppers (either 2 hueys or 1 LB and 1 CH-47)
A bunch of us VMA guys have given all these maps a good blat and so know what its about, we'll give a verbal go over before we start but it's pretty easy, when you rock up, just sing out for someone to fly in and just do some shooting, you'll pick up bits of info as the mission progresses, so just hang tight and shoot some guys while you wait! We will probably start this at around 7:30-8pm kiwi time (6pm for aussies) this will be too early for most of you but the aim here is to seed the sever and get good numbers, (also give the kiwiws a chance to play), we will be in the pblic PvP section, hope everyone on can make it! Its not like AAS at all which I even find to fast, this is much better, with no real pressure at all to get zones!
Oh and btw, LB's in OA seem to have a weird bug where by walking into them can damage them, so be careful when you get in and out of the aircraft, otherwise you might wind up with a broke LB (its a bug in OA I hope they fix real quick!)
Hope as many of you guys as possible can make it, Regards, greasy
