AEF Hall of Fame
Malthius
Highest Rank Field Marshal
Length of Service 3.5+ Years
History Since its inception in 2002 the AEF has had well over 2000 members grace our hallowed halls and many of these members have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make us the large and friendly community we are today.

Of these members some have volunteered their services and risen through the ranks to lead the AEF. Malthius is one of the most prominent of these members. He came to the AEF with an established reputation in the Australian online gaming community. He created and led the awesome 1ST Infantry clan in the Battlefield series of games. The 1ST Infantry Clan dominated the BF genre for a good part of 2002-2003 and many of its members went onto play for other notable top end teams, such as the Gentlemen’s Club in Call of Duty, 6Pack and the AEF’s own Black Watch, a team Malthius headed up during its early days.

Malthius` contribution to building the Australian gaming community through his position as a senior GameOp saw the Australian gaming community become a professional and organised community that broke the mould or popular perceptions of gamers from those outside of online gaming.

FPS veterans still talk about their first online experience using 56 dial up speeds that were only upgraded to more substantial connections as late as 2003. These upgrades however lit the fuse that ignited an explosion in not just the online gaming world but also in the console market. ISPs were quick to capitalise on this new market, many establishing gaming services that were largely run by volunteers, most whom were dedicated and committed gamers.

This is where Malthius came to the scene. Along with a small band of likeminded individuals Malthius played a significant role in building the foundations of many of the current online gaming services we all enjoy today. His tireless work in establishing rules and regulations governing gaming tournaments, money tournaments, conflict resolution policies, server administrative regulations and much more helped mould the community into something much more than it would otherwise have been and set the template for the organised gaming we all now enjoy.
Upon joining the AEF in 2005 Malthius assisted HC in the development of some of its top end teams and in the diversification of many of its teams and gaming divisions. That same year the AEF experienced an enormous boom in membership, partly due to the release of the innovative BF2 but also due to Malthius` ability to promote the clan and tap into sections of the community that historically did not find the AEF appealing. He did in fact help break down many barriers in his first few months with us.

It was not long before he quickly progressed through the ranks and joined HC as one of its hard working members and in 2006 became the clan’s 4th C-in-C. Now retired, Malthius is pursuing other interests but his contribution to the AEF will never be forgotten.
