- AEF History:
- I joined the AEF in 2005 for ladder competition Battlefield 2, and then started in team leadership positions late 2005 as a 2IC for 10th Assault Battalion for the BF2 8v8 GameArena Ladder. After BF2 died down I got involved with the AEF FrontPage writing reviews, interviews and game reports for the AEF. Once ArmA was released in 2007, I started an AEF ArmA team called the Joint Strike Group (later 2CAV) but had to retire from the role due to time restraints.
In my spare time I got into Flight Sims in a big way in the AEF for IL2 and enjoyed the USL Global Competition as a competitive WW2 sim player taking on pilots from USA, UK and Europe. I had been following DCS since it was first announced, and once DCS: Black Shark was released in 2008 I made a small gaming team called the 161 Squadron, for multiplayer co-op and to learn/teach DCS to other sim-pilots. It has been actively running for over 8 years, one of the oldest groups in the AEF, and Iím very proud of the members that play under that banner.
Iím now an AEF Admin and working to make the Simulations Department a big part of the AEF and within the Australasian gaming community. Iím looking to support and develop groups in the future for such titles as iRacing, IL2 Cliffs of Dover, DCS World, Falcon 4 BMS, and an organised aviation support component for ArmA teams. (I'm now retired from these roles - 2016)
Iíve had a great time in the AEF, met heaps of great people and friends, and shared beers and steaks with other AEF members annually. Itís the greatest community for online videogaming Iíve ever seen. I hope your experience is the same.
