    Re: DCS 161 Sqn Screenshots

i autostarted up and somehow it wasnt completed, i took off, only to notice things werent right so i turned back to the pad
then everything went down hill from there fast, only 1 wheel was able to get lowered for some reason also
i landed short of the pad, bounced, cut off my own tail with my rotors and partially loosing some rotors in that process, managed to fly another 25 metres and land it on the pad
but the 2nd hard landing made the rotors collide

but the chopper was repaired shortly and i was back off

Some highlights over the last 2 weeks.

It's mainly battle damage images, because we have been playing some hairy missions recently. I wish I got a few more of the guys over some of these missions, so if you have some photos of your explots, post them.

DCS Warthog - BETA Release Night 05/10/10

Tried the highest settings. Looks very pretty with HDR on, but it kills the frames (9-30. Mostly 9) and I've got quite a good system. The 1st frame with these highest settings, all the others are on the lowest settings. The sounds are truely fantastic, ear to ear smile. Engines are loud through these headphones, warning sounds are intimidating.

Having some issues, but I think we all are in some aspect with this early release Beta. Multiplayer hasn't happened yet for me, but some of the other guys have been able to get in no worries. Might be my firewall. It's been a long day downloading this, but I'm really enjoying this introduction to a new chapter of simming here.

A playable 32 FPS. Turned some settings down and trying to find that sweet spot. Still need to go lower as my TGP CMFD flickers like a broken TV.

    Re: DCS 161 Sqn Screenshots

SAM sheared half of my right wing off. It was a bitch to control, but managed to then fly back to friendly territory and then land. It wasn't pretty but I got home. The A10 is truely the most 'survivable' plane to fly.

    proof that I landed. 8)

Lucky for him he included that last pic...Cuz I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one in the race to type it in.

Nice shots Crow....Looks like you might've struck that happy medium between the graphics & fps.....yeah?

still tinkering, That mission was hell because I was getting 11 FPS, so not only could I not steer due to wing loss issue, but jumpy frame rates so 1 minute I was looking ok, the next I was hurling towards the ground.

    Might scale it back again.

    Re: DCS 161 Sqn Screenshots

DCS a10 is unoptimized so here are some tips for fps:
    1. Avoid ultra complex things, this includes zoomed out views of the cockpit from inside, the polygon count is massive and WILL kill your fps because the game is unoptimized
    2. Avoid looking at other a10s, once again this is another region with which alot of effort was put into and is also new to the game.

avoid water on high, it causes a small drop in fps and the the big waves (ie the ones you can see from 12,000 ft) move at a couple of thousand k's an hour... unrealistic much? it looks like you are an RC plane flying over a lake...

will post some 3d screenies soon.

    Was a good night.
Good to finally make proper use of the TGP, and SPI broadcasting ability.
Think we cleaned up the final time we ran the mission with out a fatality.
    Good times 8)
