iRacing, is that a month to month payment game? I'm still digging around and learning about both iRacing and rFactor. So please excuse my lack of knowledge in these titles

rFactor has dedicated server software which makes rFactor the choice between the 2. Quite an interesting direction for AEF if we can muster enough drivers.

    Re: Any iRacing players?

Yes, iRacing is a pay-to-play sim. This is what makes it stand out from other racing sims.

So, there is no dedicated server support that the AEF could run.

I would be all for an rFactor AEF league though Just needs some decent numbers and mods. The reason I dont play rFactor very often is because I cannot get my setup to feel right inside rFactor, have never been able to

On a side note, iRacing will have the V8 supercars soon, which is quite nice, the tracks are near perfect too.

The concept of monthly payments for a racing game annoys me, I don't care how good they think it is

I've raced rfactor for years and it has stacks of mods that are fun to race.

I currently race in an F1 league.

Mez..what wheel do you have..I'm happy with the setup I have for the V8 mod.

    I have a G25 and use a plugin called RealFeel I think.
Tho the success of this is very dependant on the mod you are playing

Have to say that GTR gives much better feedback
I'd certainly be interested in some rFactor nights...but we've had a few but there is always a problem with mod version errors and stuff.

I have a Logitech DFP (Driving Force Pro).

Works great in everything but rFactor, esp in the V8 mods its horrible to use.

Its like having a league on-tap for whenever suits you. The netcode of the game is amazingly good, lag-free races with people from all over the world. Inbuild retard filter with the safety rating system. I always manage to get a great race, something that I could only get in private leagues within GTR1/2 and rFactor.

The tracks are dead accurate as are the car models, the physics are pretty up there too.

With the V8 Supercars coming, and Bathurst and a few other Aussie tracks, I think I'll be playing it a lot more too.

guys are you still in the rookie class?

I'm seriously looking into this as I've looked at the site and it looks great.

I read something about having to have to pay to fix your car if you damage it! How does that work?

    Re: Any iRacing players?

Ok I caved, bought a 3 month subscription and my only regret is I didn't get a 12 month one straight away.

I love the game, graphics a little dated but the racing experience is fantastic.
Racing against other rookies can still mean there are a few scrappy races but by enlarge the quality of racing is 1,000,0000,000,000% better then any server I have played on with rFactor and GTR. I can appreciate that as you move through your classes the quality of racing will even be better, I can't wait

It's weird at first having a website as the place you select your cars and tracks, where you paint your gear and launch your game from etc but after awhile you see the intricacy behind the site, the information, news services and organisation of the iRacing community is amazing. When you see it you can understand why 8 bux a month is a small price to pay for such an excellent service.

So I'm hooked and I'm loving it
Now if only I could figure out a way to find more time to play it.

Hey Matt thats awesome to see another iRacing player in the ranks

What is your name so we can add you on the service? Are you still actively playing?

Shane and I try to play as much as possible. We had a shit race tonight (-0.25 SR here ) but the quality of races as you move up do indeed get better!

Keen to race with you sometime, I've PM'ed you my name.

    Re: Any iRacing players?

    dang -0.25 ouch :?

I just got my Class D licence and have entered into the Late Model Tour
Just had my first race a Thompson tonight, started 12 and came 5th, dang it's hard passing on that track so I'm gonna have to do some qualifying runs to try and get further at the front of the grid. But I had a good race and got a +.08 SR after having one scrape off the wall

It was a great race, no wrecks and courteous drivers.
50 lap race and 30 of them were very close racing between 3 of us..we had a few taps and shunts but it didn't cause us to loose any SR's which surprised me but man it was white knuckle stuff, I gotta keep reminding myself to breath

My name is....wait for it.......Matt Stone

I see you guys are in the Mustang Cup...dang I nearly chose that but decided to do the ovals instead

a good start to my season.
    I'm in Division 5 atm

As MattStone said, the Williams F1 is coming shortly.

However, this is a game that will never have any mods at all.

    Re: Any iRacing players?

Hey guys, I'm an iRacer and I love it!

Add Murray Hibble. I'm currently un-subbed but am paying up later this month when my TrackIR 5 is delivered. I think I'm C or B class on road... I'm mainly in it for the Star Mazda and the Mustang Cup. Was trying to get into the prototype racing but couldn't make up my mind between the two vehicles on offer.

Played rFactor, LFS and a few sims before it, but nothing beats the fact I can get into a full race at any time I like, have minimal to no lag and EVERYONE drives like a king because of how SR is so firmly rooted in career progression.

    See you on the track.
