AC Skins - Technical, Display, What's hot

As we are diving into the murky world of skinning I thought we should have a thread dedicated to the topic.

As Davos mentioned elsewhere, a good beginner tutorial on the AC Forum:
    A Guide to Skin Modding

Our resident guru, Skid, will no doubt be able to answer any questions or offer guidance on the issue.

    Enjoy!

I'm having an issue with the huracan skin. I can't remove the number and stripe off the door. I can see the number and stripe in a separate file in the skin folder. If I delete the file the number and stripe is replaced it with a different number and stripe. If I erase the number and strip image in Photoshop and leave the file it results in an orange patch on the door. I'm presuming there's a text file somewhere I can amend to stop the number and stripe overlaying. Can anyone help?

A bit of trial and error while learning the "skinning" ropes! A Zero inspired paint-job for the Nissan GTR GT3. I flattened the image to DDS the file and saved it, so I have lost my layers!
