Post AEF|RT Members - DR: League Championships 2017

    2017
    DiRT Rally - League Championships

Who's names will be immortalized in the AEF Racing Team "Hall of Fame"?

Strap yourself in and enter the "AEF - Australia" DR League located> HERE!,
then post below in this forum to advise of your application.
    .
So, show us and the world you've got what it takes to be worthy of being
added to this exclusive list of AEF Racing Team Champions.

(See bottom of post for more information on new entries)

    - Information & Rules -

    2017 = 4 Championships (Seasons) each comprising 2 Series of differing vehicle/classes.

Each Series = 6 Events across 6 locations containing
    12 stages per event/location.

Time Period to complete each Event = 7 Days

SETUPS............. -Open with "Tuning" enabled at each service area.
    SERVICE AREAS
... -Stages 1 and 7 - (Save & Exit in each SA available)
RESTRICTIONS.... -NO Event restart - NO Stage retry - NO Career Engineers (All driver's mechanics have equal skill) - NO Owned Vehicles (All vehicles are fully upgraded)

    NOTE: If a CTD
occurs, or accidentally pressing ALT+F4, or any other issue that stops your event rally, you will lose all event progress including your S&E from Stage 7 (if it was implemented)
However, you will still be able to restart the Event from the beginning of it's
Stage 1 checkpoint, instead of being given a Retirement/DNF result.

RULES: A Drivers 1st choice of vehicle in a series class of events (E1, E7) must be retained for all further events within it's series.
=======_Any vehicle change within a series will have it's championship points deducted (via penalty) until they revert back to their original vehicle that
............. was chosen and used for it's series 1st event.

    NB:
Suggestions are always welcomed for any changes to vehicles/classes
or formats etc. for each season if workable.
Unfortunately DR only allows 6 events of 12 stages each to auto tally championship points, so any S/Special events or stages must be held seperately.

Just a heads up about having only one service area...

To reach a Stage 7/Service Area in an Event of 12 stages would require a total of aprx. 30mins of actual driving, not including any (IRL) game paused rest stops during or between stages if required.
This would make S7 the half way mark to strive for to get repairs, re-tuning and of course Save & Exit to return later (if needed).

This was brought about after all our drivers mentioned previously, that they never needed to go over the allowed 30mins for any repairs by just topping up as they go.
So to move more towards mimicking/simulating RL driving, we've increased the "Fear of Death" side of things by decreasing the SA's to bring the repair penalties more into play for our championship events.
The idea being, is to slow down any talented lead foot drivers that throw caution to the wind not worried about damaging their vehicles, knowing that they can just keep repairing their car at every next SA close by.

So be prepared to way up those driving risks over safety so that you don't incur too much damage by the time you reach the S7 Service Area.
The choices you then make whether you use your repair time penalties over your 30mins allowed will play a big factor for the next final 6 stages.

Not having those convenient SA's at every 2-3 stages will cause a lot of DNF's for some drivers if they don't.. A) Slow down. B) Drive within their limits. and.. C) Preserve their poor Ol'Car!
Driving a tad (cautiously) slower to get your finishing points will mean everything! in the end.. and keep your points ticking over on the overall championship ladder.

Advice?.. Don't risk a DNF with a dying car and use the extra repair time penalties over the 30mins given if needed to keep your car components above 70-75% health as insurance to get you home.

So drive smart and "Good Luck" for the Championship/s all.

The AEF DR Championship #1.. is now underway!

Who's going to act as the course "sweepers" and pave the way with some challenging stage times for all those that follow to compare with?
Because you never know, what you think might be a conservative time, just might tempt others to take those unnecessary risks to go faster which can lead to mistakes that can cripple a cars time with damage, or even worse... a dreaded DNF!

Please post in here with your rally event experiences, as they make for some great reading drivers can relate to, be informed, get tips/advice for.. and most of all, entertain all those interested.

Bugger, I thought I had got rid of my 2D bug, but it is back to haunt me. Unfortunately with no restarts that means I am out.

Looked like I was going to have a good battle with Etch on the first. Less than a second split after 2 stages.

Bad luck Kai.. Don't forget about Alt+F4 to shut down the sim if things like that go horribly wrong.
That way it won't award you with a DNF and you can decide if you want to (of have time to) start from the very beginning at the stage 1 checkpoint again.

Yer... It's cool for the first couple of stages for any mishaps before you bed ur bum in the seat, but it becomes a frikken chore if your further in, with no guarantees to be any better... For emergency use only.

PS: Sadly I don't think Glennaux has been reading any of these threads to keep up to date with any changes and looks like he discovered the no service area anymore at stage 3 the hard way.

Finished Finland using all my extra service time. Here's some images of my final stage:

Got the flat tire near the end, but I'd lost turbo and radiator too I think.

AEF 2017 DR Championship#1 results are up.. ^

Congratulations to our WINNER.. AEF Etch!, the podium finishers,.... and thanks to all those that participated.

Championship#2 will commence on the 17th of April at 0500hrs which could very well be cut short by aprx 3 events as we transition to the new "DiRT 4" very soon after it's release on the 7th June.
But until then... Be sure to keep entering into what just might be our last AEF|RT league use of the succesful "DiRT Rally" sim in our AEF Championship so you can keep increasing your chances for our end of year prizes.

BTW.... We'll be going out with a BANG! in this last C/ship #2 with the use of those top tiered, demonic, beast of cars that are the R4's and F2's ...So buckley up and whack your mouth guards in because they're gunna be one hell of a ride... >_O
